Citizen Levels and XP: How Progression Works
September 14, 2026 ยท 4 min read
Every PlotTwist citizen has a level, from 1 (Newcomer) up past Resident, Local, and Regular, all the way to Legend. Your level is public โ it shows next to your name on your buildings โ and it unlocks cosmetic styles you can't buy any other way.
How you earn XP
- Someone visits your building: +1 XP (your own visits don't count).
- Someone clicks your destination link: +2 XP.
- You write a guestbook entry: +3 XP.
- You send a city chat message: +2 XP.
- You place an auction bid: +5 XP.
- Daily check-in: +10 XP on top of the coin reward.
Notice the shape of it: the biggest XP comes from other people engaging with what you built. The fastest way to level up isn't grinding โ it's making a building worth visiting.
What levels unlock
Levels gate exclusive building skins. At level 4 you unlock Hologram trim, at level 6 Aurora, and at level 8 Inferno โ each with its own look on the skyline. They're earn-only: no amount of coins buys them, which is exactly why they mean something when you see one.
A note on the curve
Early levels come fast โ you'll hit level 2 or 3 in your first active week. Later levels take real, sustained attention to your buildings. That's deliberate: a level 8 citizen should be someone whose corner of the city people actually visit.
