Making Your Building Famous: Visits, Clicks, and Buzz
September 14, 2026 ยท 5 min read
Every building in PlotTwist has two numbers that matter: visits (how many people stopped by) and clicks (how many followed your destination link). Together they're your buzz โ the honest, ungameable record of how interesting your corner of the city is.
Where visits come from
- Explorers wandering the 3D city who spot your building and walk over.
- Your public plot page, which anyone can open from a shared link.
- The leaderboard, Plot of the Day, and other discovery surfaces.
- Links you share yourself โ your plot page is built for iMessage, X, and Discord previews.
Visits are rate-limited per viewer, so the numbers reflect real humans, not refresh spam. And every visit from someone else earns you XP toward your next citizen level.
What actually draws a crowd
After watching which buildings pull traffic, the pattern is simple: name it something memorable, give it a distinctive look, and point the destination link somewhere worth visiting. A building called 'Plot 47' with default paint and no link is invisible. A neon-pink tower called 'The Midnight Diner' linking to your actual project gets explored.
Clicks are the real compliment
A visit means someone noticed you. A click means they cared enough to leave the city and see what you're about. If your clicks are low relative to visits, your building is interesting but your destination isn't pulling its weight โ that's a link problem, not a building problem.
And yes โ clicks earn you XP too. The city rewards buildings that send people somewhere good.
